It’s been about a month now since I’ve posted here. There is a very good reason for that: my life is FULL.
First and foremost there’s university. Lectures every Monday, Thursday and Friday, with the occasional extra sessions sprinkled in between.
Second there’s all the hours spent on preparation and revision of the lectures previously mentioned.
Third there’s the free time I am determined to grab and enjoy full-on.
Let’s put my first month as a student in a fun lil’ overview, shall we?
20/9 – I move into my student room.
21/9 – first day: introductions and welcome speeches, getting to know a lot of the people I’ll be sitting in the same lecture hall (and so much more) with.
(me on the first morning + coffee in Moomin mug)
23/9 – hanging with Tessa (she loves me)
24/9 – cooking goes well, apparently! + friends! (Marthe)
26/9 – weekend: museum visit to Brussels with the Momma, Michel (brother) & Babette (sister)
28/9 – nice view from window above desk
+ STATE CHAMPS CONCERT!
OK so this is special. State Champs is a pop punk band and one of the first I really got into, exactly a year ago. Shortly followed the big names like blink-182, Sum 41, etc. but they are a.o. at the base of the significant growth of my taste in music. I love every song they put out and the live performance was incredible. The crowd was amazing too, so the overall vibe was one to give me energy for weeks. (Not to mention that the fact that I spoke to the lead singer, Derek, at the end shortly will create a smile on my face for the next billion years.)
30/9 – desk scenery. Morning routine consists of: coffee, bread (sometimes yoghurt if I’m lucky), YouTube
+ official student welcome in Leuven. Pretty big event with lots of stalls with free stuff, basically. And cool info. And food. Big stage with loud music. I made new friends and it was rad.
6/10 – the month of Halloween has commenced and I spend one of the first days with the gorgeous Tessa
+ view of Leuven
7/10 – Marthe + hot chocolate + the denim jacket I designed for her birthday of which I am very proud + free concert of Bony King, a Belgian singer-songwriter that was very good!!!
12/10 – lecture hall scenery, professor keeps us waiting + nice evening street view of Leuven (I love living in the city.)
I actually love all my classes. I’m motivated for all of them and can actually be interested enough to listen to it all. This makes me very happy, since I was slightly afraid before of the possibility that it wouldn’t be so great. It’s a LOT of work, but it’s able to keep up with (unless you’re sick, like I am atm). I also want to do the work, so that’s a huge win. The people I meet are also great, I made some friends already that I thoroughly enjoy spending time with, chuckling through lectures while still managing to pay perfect attention. Isn’t that magical? Yes, I have found a right place.
14/10 – FALL OUT BOY with Rosalie!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!?!???
THEY WERE VERY CLOSE AT ONE POINT
it was an A+ gig indeed
16/10 – The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire comes in the mail. Need I say more?
16-18/10 – AFS weekend with workshops to improve them AFS skills. Great people, bad health (on my part). (I was sick.) (It was still great.)
20/10 – image of me earlier today after spending 2 hours reading about Medieval literature.
I’m planning on being more active on my YouTube channel again! I have some ideas involving my student room… 😉 so that’ll appear once I’m through this immune system breakdown. (I’ve been to the doctor. It’ll only go up from here, I hope. Currently I have to enjoy my music mainly through my left ear, since the right one just decided to stop doing its one job.)
ANYWAY here’s some great music:
